Dave Jans is a dedicated public servant, community leader, and small businessman whose commitment to West Sacramento spans decades.
A firefighter and engineer for 15 years, Dave built a career focused on protecting lives and serving others. Dave was active in his local firefighters association, serving as a board member, president, and lead negotiator, where he successfully advocated to maintain three-person engine staffing to ensure public and firefighter safety. He also shared his expertise as an instructor at the Yuba College Fire Academy, helping train the next generation of firefighters.
Dave’s dedication to the community extends far beyond his professional career. He has volunteered at the local Senior Center teaching computer skills and later provided handyman services to seniors through relationships built during that work. He is an annual volunteer guest speaker for the River City High School Student Theater Program and serves on the River City High School Arts, Media, and Entertainment Advisory Committee, helping support educational and career opportunities for local students.
For seven years, Dave served on the West Sacramento Parks Commission, including terms as both Chair and Vice Chair. As a longtime leader in youth sports, Dave dedicated more than a decade to West Sacramento Little League as a coach, board member, Vice President, President, and Safety Officer. He has also coached city youth flag football and River City High School football, mentoring young athletes and helping them develop both on and off the field.
Professionally, Dave is small businessman and realtor, giving him firsthand knowledge of the housing market, neighborhood development, and the challenges facing local families.
Dave has been an advocate for strong local schools. He was a volunteer in support Measure Z, to ensure funding for local school facilities funding and has spent years advocating for the restoration of School Resource Officers on local campuses.
Dave has been married to his high school sweetheart for 25 years. Together, they raised two kids here in West Sacramento.
