West Sacramento, CA — Small businessman and former firefighter Dave Jans has announced his campaign for the West Sacramento City Council, District 3.

In announcing his candidacy, Jans stated, “I am running for City Council to take my experience as a firefighter, small businessman, and dedicated community leader and work for real solutions to issues like protecting public safety, fixing our roads, and improving our local quality of life.”

Jans served as a firefighter and engineer for 15 years, including leadership roles in his local firefighters association and as an instructor at the Yuba College Fire Academy.  Since retiring as a firefighter, Jans has worked as a small businessman and realtor.

Jans is a dedicated community volunteer and leader, having served on the West Sacramento Parks Commission and the River City High School Arts, Media, and Entertainment Advisory Committee. He has been heavily involved in local schools and youth sports as an annual volunteer guest speaker for the River City High School Student Theater Program, a coach, board member and former President of West Sacramento Little League, and as a coach for city youth flag football and River City High School football.
