
UA Local 447 Endorses Retired Firefighter Dave Jans for West Sacramento City Council

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA — Plumbers and Pipefitters UA Local 447 has officially endorsed retired firefighter, local small business owner, and Parks and Recreation Commissioner Dave Jans in his campaign for West Sacramento City Council, adding another prominent organized labor organization to his broad coalition.
Representing highly skilled plumbers, pipefitters, and service technicians across the region, UA Local 447 backed Jans for his dedication to public safety, support for working families, and common sense focus on local infrastructure investment.
“Dave Jans understands the importance of and supports living wage local jobs and collectively bargained labor organizations, strong community engagement and safe neighborhoods,” said Todd Schiavo, Business Manager of UA Local 447. “As a retired firefighter, small business owner, and Parks and Recreation Commissioner, Dave has spent decades working to strengthen the community. Jans, who has called West Sacramento home for nearly 25 years, continues to build momentum across the city as he meets with residents at community events, neighborhood gatherings, and civic functions. His platform emphasizes protecting public safety, upgrading roads and infrastructure, supporting local businesses, and enhancing city parks.

The endorsement from UA Local 447 further solidifies a broad based campaign coalition uniting labor unions, first responders, business leaders, and neighborhood advocates behind Jans. His growing list of supporters includes Sacramento Area Firefighters Local 522, the West Sacramento Police Officers Association, Construction & General Laborers Local 185, IBEW Local 340, the Sacramento Sierra Building and Construction Trades Council, the Sac Metro Chamber PAC, and a unanimous endorsement from the Sacramento Association of REALTORS®.
